‘I’ve made friends that will last’

Courses 2007

Comments and Reviews

“I enjoyed myself so much, and learnt a ridiculous amount for only eight days. It truly was one of the best things I have ever done, and I look forward to January when the 2008 course details are published! The Course inspired my love for choral singing even more and has furthered my desire to sing in whatever way possible. The trips were amazing, and the special visits even more so.”

“Congratulations to Ralph Allwood and the choir for their splendid singing this morning. These were stunning, creative performances, far beyond mere accuracy, balance and clear diction. If only the BBC allowed us to hear such singing each day, it would lift our hearts.

“I never knew such a high standard of choral singing existed at our age, and yet I was placed right in the middle of it at the course. All the staff and choristers were so nice, musical and talented, and your knowledge and experience was of a level that I never could have predicted. I now have a love for English choral music that I don't think I could have gained otherwise. I still remember being in the first rehearsal of Lo the full final sacrifice and saying to myself that I could never like it, but, even more vividly, I remember singing the same piece at the final performance and being deeply moved by the power of the words and the music. I've been so touched by the repertoire that we performed, that the last three of my compositions since I have returned have been inspired by what I heard on the course.”

"I would just like to say a HUGE thanks for the choral course last week. I had such a fantastic time and learnt so much. It was a great opportunity to meet new people, to be conducted by professionals, and to be masterclassed by James Gilchrist! Bit of a shock that was, but it was such a useful experience.  I most definitely will be coming back for another course. One year is such a long time to wait! Also, thank you ever so much for inviting me to join Rodolfus. I consider it a great privilege to be asked as I have heard recordings of the choir, and they sing to such a high standard.  I hope to see you at new year and thank you once again!"

"Just writing to thank you for an amazing choral course. It was a fantastic and I learnt so much from it. I've recommended it to anyone vaguely interested in choral singing and would certainly consider going back next year. Everyone I have spoken to seems to be suffering from the same withdrawal symptoms, even now, almost a week after we left, and plans are already being made for a London reunion."
